Newport move out of the bottom two with win over Accrington
Newport moved out of the relegation places for the first time since November 19 with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against an in-form Accrington.
Mark Randall's 60th-minute goal proved enough as the Exiles ended Stanley's 15-game unbeaten run and put a major dent in their play-off hopes.
The visitors had the game's first chance but Jordan Clark's fierce strike from the edge of the box was parried by star man Joe Day.
And the County goalkeeper was called into action again with another fine reflex stop after home captain Joss Labadie diverted Shay McCartan's shot goal-wards.
After the break, the hosts had to rely on their number one once more to stop Noor Husin's bobbling shot.
And on the hour the hosts found the crucial breakthrough
Alex Samuel's cross found Randall at the back post and his shot was deflected by goalkeeper Marak Rodak, with Ryan Bird looking to get his head on the ball to claim the goal.
Samuel looked certain to double County's lead minutes later but Rodak was able to get a strong hand to his strike.
