Stevenage impress away at Newport County
Stevenage continued their charge up the League Two table with a 2-0 triumph at bottom side Newport County.
Darren Sarll's side made it five away wins in a row after Newport defender Darren Jones scored an own goal and Tom Pett forced the ball in from close range.
Newport remain rooted to the foot of the table but could earn a lucrative FA Cup trip to Liverpool if they beat Plymouth at Rodney Parade next Tuesday.
The Exiles' bright start was ended abruptly after 10 minutes when winger Pett drove into the penalty area and shot towards the far post, only to see Jones divert the ball into his own net.
It was to get worse for the Exiles after 39 minutes, and they only had themselves to blame.
County keeper Joe Day palmed Steve Schumacher's long-range effort back into danger before Harry McKirdy twice failed to put it in the back of the net from close range.
But persistence paid off and Pett forced the ball into the back of the net from a yard out.
