Newport ensure miserable reunion for Notts County boss
John Sheridan endured a difficult afternoon against his former side Newport as his Notts County team succumbed to a 3-0 home defeat.
Newport climbed out of the League Two relegation zone as they stretched their unbeaten league run to seven games thanks to goals from Sean Rigg, Rhys Healey and Josh Sheehan.
The first half hour saw little in the way of clear-cut chances before the visitors were handed a penalty when Sheehan was felled clumsily in the area by Richard Duffy.
Rigg had his spot-kick kept out by home goalkeeper Adam Collin but it rebounded straight into his path and he easily tucked the ball into the empty net.
The impressive Healey doubled their lead just three minutes later when he went on a mazy, unopposed run and fired home in emphatic style for his third goal in a week.
Sheehan also bagged his third goal in as many games as he smacked a sumptuous half-volley beyond Collin in the 62nd minute.
The home side mustered little in front of goal all afternoon and remain stuck on just one league win at Meadow Lane all season.
