Exiles wait on Jeffers news
Newport hope to sign Shaun Jeffers in time for their clash with Plymouth.
The former Coventry forward is set to arrive from Peterborough as part of the deal which will see Newport's star striker Conor Washington move to London Road once a medical is passed and personal terms are agreed.
If the transfer goes through in time then Jeffers' arrival will give Justin Edinburgh's men a real boost following three defeats in their last four games, the most recent coming at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The Exiles' ground staff are working hard to make sure the game goes ahead having suffered a string of postponements which have meant they have played just 10 League Two games at Rodney Parade this season.
Plymouth's defensive options will be stretched for the trip.
Matt Parsons joined from Crystal Palace last week but was forced to withdraw from the squad that drew 1-1 with Cheltenham after nicking his thigh on Friday and the Pilgrims will assess the defender ahead of the game.
Fellow defenders Durrell Berry (groin), Guy Branston (ankle) are both going to be missing until February while right-back Maxime Blanchard only played after passing a late fitness test having suffered a dead leg and manager John Sheridan has a decision to make on the Frenchman.
Jamie Richards and the experienced Paul Wotton are both options while Luke Young is pushing for a start after grabbing a late leveller having been introduced as a substitute against the Robins.
