Graham Westley enjoys first win as Newport boss

Bottom club Newport celebrated their first victory under new boss Graham Westley with a 3-1 win at Accrington.

A superb solo goal from Rhys Healey put County ahead early in the second half and Jazzi Barnum-Bobb capitalised on a defensive mistake after 62 minutes to make it 2-0.

Janoi Donacien pulled one back for Stanley in the 79th minute before Josh Sheehan sealed a first win in four games in charge for Westley.

It was a first half of limited chances but Newport looked up for it, with Sean Rigg's free-kick deflected wide in the opening minutes.

County dominated possession without testing goalkeeper Elliot Parish, while Stanley's best two chances fell to Jordan Clark who tapped wide in the 13th minute and the forward volleyed over in time added on.

Two minutes after the restart came Healey's wonder goal - the on-loan Cardiff striker collecting the ball in his own half, racing forward and getting around the Stanley defence before firing into the roof of the net.

Newport doubled their tally when Barnum-Bobb pounced on an error and found himself clean through, finishing past Parish from 15 yards for his first goal of the season.

Stanley got a goal back after 79 minutes when Shay McCartan's shot was blocked to defender Donacien at the far post and he volleyed home against his former club.

But Sheehan made the points safe in injury time, twisting in the area and firing home to settle it.
